The Cowards in Iran Provoke Israel in a Totally Symbolic Missile Barrage that Underscores the Brittle Regime’s Basic Fragility
Israel Should Take it as a License to Escalate
I’m a very moody guy, if you couldn’t tell. People often ask me at work how I am. Trying to gauge my mood, they say you’re x today. You’re this.
I can’t always explain my mood, less control it, recurrently bouncing from sullen to elated, however I will say that when it comes to Israel and Iran, and tensions in the Middle East, my predominant feeling right now is one of grim vindication.
From Biden’s choice to unfreeze $16 billion in Iranian oil money to the other $6 billion he unfroze to release a handful of hostages—all to rejoin the nuclear deal (just an Obama-era excuse not to strike Iran, instead to pay the regime not to enrich uranium) from which Trump shrewdly withdrew— for the last year, I have inveighed against Biden’s romance with the world’s leading state sponsor of terror and the primary exporter of the evil doctrine of radical Islam.
While most of the discourse was consumed with what was going on in Ukraine, not unjustifiably, I have watched us march towards a crisis in the Middle East with Biden easing oil sanctions and provoking an emboldened Iran to blow up the tenuous regional equilibrium with his doomed “Saudi-Israeli normalization” grand bargain. To be sure, how many times do I have to say: the Abraham Accords will never work, and it is fucking worthless, as long as we allow Iran to sow terror without consequences and march towards the bomb.
And lately I am very pleased that with Netanyahu’s assassinations of Quds force leaders, he is using October 7th as the casus belli to go after Iran and cut off the head of the snake exactly as I suggested he do here days after October 7th.
If it’s Iran’s and its partners’ (not to mention Russia and China) grand strategy to weaponize the overweening Western woke compassion for “the Palestinians,” elevated to saintly innocents, to exploit the West’s shameful and insane crisis of confidence, exemplified by a self-flagellating need to profess sympathy for a random Arab people and pour scorn on our natural allies to feel good about themselves, and cleanse the progressive soul of the original sin of imperialism and win peer admiration as a virtuous guilt-ridden mob on social media— it is in Israel’s interest to kick the “Palestinians” aside by taking the battle to the Jewish state’s arch-nemesis.
If Netanyahu can reframe the war as a battle for civilization instead of a costly counterinsurgency, then he has the best chance of not only eliminating Hamas and deterring Hezbollah by intimidating Tehran from supporting it, but also winning diplomatic support from the international community, namely the US, to do so.
As Iran’s pathetic and contemptible slow-motion attack on the Israeli homeland yesterday proves, the mullahs are cowards who, on one hand desire to avoid a real conflict with Israel, preferring to hide behind their proxies, however they want to show their own people that they’re not afraid to strike Israel with hundreds of drones and missiles. However the regime will find it can’t strike Israel on its home soil and tout it as a muscular retaliation, even if nobody gets hurt, not without Israel striking back, probably on Iran’s home soil.
Indeed that is what Israel should do next. Israel has done well to pick off IRGC leaders. Now it needs and it has justification to strike Iran at home. Now with the suffering of those saintly “Palestinians” sidelined—pity those beautiful souls— with America’s sanction, Israel should knock Iran’s lights out.
Time to go crazy.
